Romance Scammer Alert
The real man in this photo is Eneko Knörr. He is a prominent businessman and
public figure in Spain. Therefore, his Instagram and Facebook photos are open
for the public to view which makes them easy to be stolen by romance scammers.
Eneko and I have been in contact, and he has given me permission (as of January
26th, 2021) to use his photos on anti-scammer sites so that they will stop
being used. I used several reverse image searches as his photos were given to
me by the scammer, but no matching images or faces came up in my search.
However, when I had someone in Europe search the exact same photos, Eneko’s
pictures and social media pages came up immediately. Your reverse images
searches are not as powerful a tool as you may think! Be careful!
I met this scammer on the Plenty of Fish dating app in
November of 2020. He was a paid member so that is why I felt safer talking to
him rather than the free members. He claimed to be Greg Thompson, born in
Brussels, Belgium on March 12th, 1975 (age 45) and raised to speak
Dutch and English. He still has a heavy accent but claims he cannot remember
Dutch because he moved to Utah, USA at age 14 and they only spoke English from
then on. He moved to Vancouver, Canada around 2016 after his 11-year-old
daughter Betty died of cancer, and he caught his wife Kate in bed with one of
his best friends. His mom died years ago and his dad is in a Utah nursing home
suffering amnesia from a brain tumor. He also claims to be a Quantity Surveyor
and after a week of talking, said he had to go to Haifa, Israel to manage a
4-month gas field surveying project since there were no decent domestic jobs
available. He will call and text daily to build trust. He will also attempt a
video call, but the audio and video are choppy as if the connection is poor. He
is actually using video footage stolen from Eneko’s Facebook page, and using a
voice over technique to use your name on the Skype call. He will eventually ask
you to send iTunes gift cards because he needs ones with a Canadian code and
cannot get them in Israel. Then he will ask you to help him pay his equipment suppliers
because his online bank was frozen due to logging in from a foreign IP address.
He will send you the login info for his bank account but it is a fake bank and
website (libertycapitals.com/onlinebank or westernskyfb.com are fake!). He will
also call you from active phone numbers 289-298-0457 (Ontario, Canada) and
385-237-5145 (Utah, USA) and use the email address gregtommy9099@gmail.com.
This has been reported to Plenty of Fish and the
appropriate USA and Canadian authorities. Please share this photos to any and
all scammer sites you know so Eneko’s pictures start to show up on North
American reverse Image searches!

ReplyDeleteThank you for the information and it isn't always the same scammer. Many scammer teams use these sets of pictures. They never stop and it is so sad for this man and sad for all women that these scammers are so bad people. This is finding it easy for fraudsters to steal. Very sad and bad.
