Thr second red flag is he keeps on calling me dear, "i want to know more about you dear", "i think you are a great women dear"... I know american don't use "dear"...
It got me suspicious and i decided to search for his name Walter James US Army and boom...here am i. Im really glad i found this and i decided to play along with him and see who is trolling who!!

My feed contains outdoor pics and from hunting. I’m a huntress. Fooled him then I asked for his APO and so on. Surprisingly he couldn’t give me that. Now he’s reported and blocked. But really annoying that Instagram can’t shot down his fake account. Only the true person can request that. Idiotic!

there is no point in getting an IP address even if you could, this is from Africa where there is nothing can be done to them, it's rife and accepted there. Never send pictures of family, they will be used by them. There are no safe ways with scammers other than to get out and block them. Nobody in a war zone needs anything and the sending money is an old and famous scam. The package will start it's progress and you will get demands for money. GET OUT... you can do nothing about the pictures...and BLOCK them !

The fake suitcase with gold is a common scam
On Nov 2nd, 2020 a person contacted me on IG with the name Brandon Miller and I accepted his friend request because I thought he was one of my friends friends on IG. When he messaged me, he seemed too friendly. It was Yes, Dear this and Yes, Dear that and so I asked him who he really was and if this was a prank. But he told me he was just wanting to chat and be friends and why was I so upset etc. So stupidly I calmed down and carried on chatting with him. Soon after he told me to get a HANGOUTS account so we could talk in private as he said it wasn't safe on IG. He then told me he was a Lieutenant General with the US Marines on a peace mission in Kabul Afghanistan and told me his wife had died of cancer, 6 years ago, and he had a 15 year old son who was in a private school. After a while I asked to talk to him on the phone but he gave the excuse that it would be against the rules and he could get into trouble. I tried asking for a video call but again he refused. I was still a bit suspicious but looked forward to our chats! He seemed like a really understanding guy, always polite, loving, kind and considerate. I felt like I was falling in love with him. I even sent him pictures of my family. Then after about 2 weeks he told me his son had gone on an excursion with his school and was stranded in Mexico. He (scammer) asked me if I could send $1,050 to pay the school to get his son back to USA. I told him I didn't have any money and I never sent any. This made me even more suspicious, so I stopped chatting to him, blocked him and started doing some research. I asked a relative in UK to ask her friend, whos ex military about the uniforms that the scammer had used as his profile. What he told me scared me so much! He said that they were British uniforms, one being a Royal Navy uniform which he hadn't seen in about 10 years. He said they were not US Marine uniforms. I then got on the internet and tried to find out about the person I was talking to and Up popped a page about Military Romance scams. As I scrolled down through pictures, there as clear as anything was a picture of Brandon Miller BUT it had a different name. I tried to search on that name but nothing came back that made sense. Then another page popped up saying that if you are chatting to someone on social media with these pictures (STEPHEN MURPHY) then you are being scammed. The more I searched, the more Stephen Murphy's name kept coming up, over and over again. I felt sick! I feel stupid because I had allowed myself to be scammed but I feel a thousand times worse for STEPHEN MURPHY, the man who has had his identity stolen and used all over the internet. I can't help feeling so bad for him and how this must have affected his life. I wish I could tell him how sorry I am. I wish I could stop what these scammers are doing. I am still extremely upset about this and keep having suicidal thoughts. I don't think I'm ever going to be able to forget this happened.

I met him on facebook this week. He quickly wanted to move to Google chat, and that's where I'm currently chatting with him. He had sent me a picture a couple of days ago and I asked where and when it was taken. He said 3 weeks ago when his commander was with him in Iran. His wife died 4 yrs ago and he has a 14 yr old daughter who is in a military boarding school. He said he was a leader of a Peace Keeping troup in Iran with 3 months left. By accident I right clicked his picture and google images led me to this page. He is going by the name of Roland Bentley.
